Get Shaking! Here's how Iris fits into your espresso prep
Why Shake? You may ask yourself what's with shaking your coffee grounds?

The answer is simple: We want consistently better tasting coffee and have found that shaking freshly ground coffee beans gives us the best results. Here's how:

  • Round the grounds: Densify your coffee grounds while rounding smallest particles with a little shake
  • Perfect distribution: Our Quick Release Aperture ensures your grounds drop right in the centre for flawless extraction.
  • Consistency: When those first espresso drops flow through evenly, you know your prep is spot-on. Now, you can play with other variables!
  • Maximize flavor: Shaking leads to improved clarity and extraction, making sure you get the most out of every bean.
Why Shake?
The Science of Shaking
The Science of ShakingWhy shake your coffee grounds? Almost every grinder produces a mix of particle sizes, with some finer particles that can over-extract and muddle the flavor.

When you shake the grounds, the process of densification occurs—those smaller particles fill in the gaps between larger ones, creating a more homogenous coffee bed.

This results in smoother water flow during brewing and more consistent extractions. And when you combine that with Iris’s perfect release mechanism, you’re on your way to better tasting coffee, every time.
